Oh yeah, totally. I think talking to a psychiatrist and finding one that you vibe with would be the first step. They can help you find a medication that works for you, cause it's not one size fits all, and safely get you off anything that isn't working. Or maybe help you self medicate safely instead
There are daily ones where you only take the medicine on days where you need it. That would help slow tolerance build up, reduce your dosage over time, and most importantly, keep you in control of what your body needs day to day :)
