Mine too - this is Helena the curator speaking, I adore this work! It’s so evocative, captures so perfectly a seemingly fleeting moment which is however overflowing with emotions and there’s so many stories unraveling in that tiny gesture of the shoulders rubbing against each other unexpectedly! ❤️

Well spotted!! Indeed this is the reverse of another painting in the collection, which was recorded on our database. We couldn’t locate it at first, and when we did, we discovered an entirely new painting on the other side! We’d love to exhibit both in the future. So glad you spotted this, yay!🎉❤️

New exhibition is up at the Fairhurst Gallery at @uoylibrary.bsky.social! Based on the PhD research of student Leila Danesh the display celebrates historic Islamic architecture, craft and design. It’s the second show in this new display space and we’re so excited to share it with everyone! #UoYArt
