So @hcrichardson.bsky.social has encouraged us to record or write what it means to us to live in a democracy. So today I spent some writing things I want from a democratic government.
We had these things as recently as last year, 2024. And that gives me hope that we can/will have these again.

True. And a list of things we've had as recently as 2024 and thus can remember how to do again. We even have experienced people-knowledge plus written documents detailing the values of democracy within easy access. Huge strengths in our favor!!

True but voting has been more secure (less gerrymandering) in the recent past within living memories. So ways of making voting more secure aren't mysterious... we can remember pre-gerrymandering

Yes!!! Many of us remember 2024 and the personal experience of living in a democracy with rule of law and etc. We can remind each other demonstrate with our lives and tell younger generations about the values of democracy - and together we will rise. 💙💙💙

So true!!! Too often we take for granted the very things that make our life what it is... and only become aware of them when they're gone. That's why it's helpful to look around and appreciate the "boring, normal, mundane" that's integral to our life.
