A few ways to break the game if you're feeling stuck:
Attack yourself (but try to be alive when the battle ends) to get better buffs
Get a berserk spell (from the magician enemy) and level it up to 3-5
Stick to weapon+shield, you'll get evasion buffs that will avoid even endgame attacks

I have been playing around with color balance adjustment layers on my shading to help with the hue shifts and I must agree! It just looks nicer that way!
