Refusing back pay to furloughed federal employees is wrong. These are dedicated public servants who keep our country running — protecting our safety, maintaining our infrastructure, and serving our communities every day. They deserve respect and stability.

Earlier this fall, I represented Maryland in a bipartisan discussion on early care and learning, organized by the Hunt-Kean Leadership Program, joining other elected officials from across the country to highlight the importance of giving every child a strong start.
