Where does the Moon’s exosphere come from? A TU Wien study using real lunar rock reveals that the erosive effect of solar wind ions on the Moon has been vastly overestimated.

On Friday we got delivery of 2200 disks for the new #supercomputer #MUSICA — the IBM Storage Scale System 6000 (formerly GPFS), with a 35PB of usable capacity.

Spread across 4 racks, the storage system will serve the Vienna part of MUSICA & VSC-5. The team is already busy putting it all together 💪

We are excited to share that VSC has undergone a slight rebranding and will now operate under a new name: 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗔𝗦𝗖).

The name was chosen to reflect the nationwide scope of the consortium - read the official

Is training scalable? With the right partners and a little parallelization definitely yes! A while ago we conducted a quite large ✨AI4science✨ boocamp with 210 participants – 2 very intense half days in Zoom, on Slack, and on the GPUs of 3 HPC systems – absolutely amazing 💯
