#367britlit MT Evaristo uses two "opposite" experiences to communicate the idea that no matter who you are or what you do, you can always gain a superiority complex.

Ada debugging Victorian bureaucracy and dreaming in math? Iconic. Babbage arguing with street musicians and imaginary numbers? Peak chaos. Steampunk meets snarky footnotes = pure joy! #367britlit #lovelaceandbabbage

Mini-Thesis: #367britlit Toxic norms hurt everyone. In this segment, Burns shows how societal expectations silence men's struggles--like the narrator's father, whose depression was dismissed as indulgence. I think it's important to remind people that equality isn't just about women getting (1/2)

If those officers would have asked Briony any other questions, this could have been avoided. Ex. "What brought you to find this out?" They would have seen that she was making things up in her own mind the whole time. It's not completely Briony's fault. There's some bias in all directions #367britlit

This is giving jealousy rather than protectiveness now. If anything, she should understand her sister since they both had a crush on this boy. BIG eye roll #367britlit #atonement

"There was, of course, much that she did not know about Cecilia. But there would be time, for this tragedy was bound to bring them closer" (McEwan, 185). What a great example of FORESHADOWING! #367britlit #atonement

Mini-Thesis: A study of Briony's mind. She's innocent and naive. No one will question that. However, I also have seen many instances of her knowing, to some capacity, that she is in the wrong. "Briony knew from experience, Cecilia would turn on her" (McEwan, 114) #367britlit #atonement

"Was he pretending to be jealous to conceal the fact that he was?" (McEwan, 26). When I read this, it got me to think. As a writer, I was really intrigued by the idea that people in love will overexaggerate their feelings as a way of feigning indifference. You would think being overdramatic (1/2)

Mini-Thesis: The way each of our main characters approach relationships. Tommy (Golden Retriever) vs. Kathy (Beagle) vs. Ruth (Chihuahua). I'm most interested in the way Ruth acts like a chihuahua being shoved into a cage whenever she feels threatened in her relationships #367britlit #neverletmego

Kath’s hesitation to believe Tommy reflects the quiet denial that permeates their world—truths too fragile and haunting to confront outright #367britlit #neverletmego

"Life. What is it but a dream?"

Sometimes, real life feels like it is passing just as quick as a dream...

I don't dream often, but if I did, I would hope to live a fantastical life through them just as Alice did #367britlit

"And she tried to fancy what the flame of a candle looks like after the candle is blown out, for she could not remember ever having seen such a thing" (Carroll, pp. 11-12).

It's a crazy thought to think what it will be like when we no longer are. #367britlit
