earlier this summer I started volunteering at a wildlife rehab facility. we wear ghillie suits with young impressionable birds or those that are getting too habituated. as you can imagine, this is pretty miserable in 100+ degree weather, but you do what you gotta do to keep these guys wild!

They're the same! afaik both names are still widely used but I'd referenced the IUCN bear specialist group's site for height/weight/range info (for text in the mini zine version of this) and they use Andean, so I did too.

it's been a busy month, but I'm squeezing in as many #AvianAugust2025 birds as possible. here's the 'i'iwi from day 1!

we're located in east-central AL USA but willing to travel within the southeast to meet you if needed. asking a pay-what-you-can rehoming fee -- it would be nice to recoup the spay/neuter cost ($120 and $90 respectively) but I don't want that to be the barrier between them and a good home!

Mattie, Bell, and Jet will be up to date on vaccines this week, and will be spayed/neutered in early August. they're all super sweet and curious, they love climbing the towers and running on the cat wheel, and have been really great about offering to play but respecting my older cats' boundaries.

Cosmo is a shorthair calico estimated to be just 1-2 years old. she's been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, de-wormed and flea-treated, and tested negative for FeLV and FIV. she's a little shy at first but quickly won over by food and loves napping within petting distance.

the kittens grew up so fast and Cosmo has adjusted really well to indoor life! it's been fun to have them around this summer and I love them a lot, but I already have three cats who are a bit less thrilled about their new roommates. so, it's time to find them new homes of their own.

mama cat, now named Cosmo, was a very pregnant stray in a neighborhood with a quickly growing cat population. I managed to befriend her in late April and soon had three adorable kittens and their very hungry mama in my house.
