I finally got to take the #Unistellar telescope I received from @astrosociety.org, and Y'ALL.

I still have to properly collimate the telescope but☝🏼not bad for a few quick and dirty shots under a street light. Orion Nebula, 7 min; Pleiades, 3 min.

Are you signed up for our five-workshop series on mastering your @unistellarscope? It starts TOMORROW, January 21!

This epic image of the Orion Nebula was taken on a Unistellar Telescope just last night in Central Queens, NYC, by our own Kat Troche, taken under a Bortle 9 (inner-city light) sky.

1) is #allaboutthatspace, 🌌
2) supports @astrosociety.org, ✅
3) keeps $ away from Amazon, 💸

Ready to welcome back the light, even if it's only a few more minutes each day.
The winter solstice occurs Sunday morning at 10:03am EST — the longest night of the year.

Long before modern calendars, people knew this moment in advance. From Newgrange to Chankillo, ancient monuments show how careful skywatching became humanity’s first way of trusting time.

True! Many people live in cities where all but the brightest stars have been erased due to light pollution. When we can no longer see a dark starry night sky with the Milky Way blazing overhead, something fundamental to being human has been lost. I think that's what Calvin & Hobbes captures here. 🧪🔭

We are delighted to welcome @amyimhoff1701.bsky.social as our new Director of Brand Development. Her commitment to accessible astronomy and community-building will strengthen #ASP's mission in exciting ways.
I am thrilled to announce that I've accepted a new role as Director of Digital Brand Development for @astrosociety.org! I am honored to join this space nonprofit, founded in 1889 (!!), & support science education, accessible astronomy literacy, & community building around a love of the cosmos. 💫🪐
