I think there may have been cult activity on the island

The masks and the incident with hosts seem far too supernatural for it to be a coincidence

Thus I believe that they had a way to get closer to the source of the pulse

Maybe a cave or tunnel

Well it appears they are going for the guests are more weaker than others, I suppose we can than assume that they are not physically strong enough for a direct attack

They appear to mainly use blunt attacks as well except for the first murder
