I’m not trying to excuse or downplay any of that. Hells, I’d rather have seen a proper trial and conviction for him, just as I got. It’d only make sense.

I assume they were ´rebels´ or dissidents of some kind? That would be the only reason I can see for such drastic measures... Either way, my condolences. A child should not be made to go through such an experience.

Some people don't deserve second chances.
I for one believe he should have still been given a chance, more of an obligation, to fix his mistakes or get at least as close to that as someone can within a lifetime, but the conditions would not be as kind as they are now if she did not survive.
I leave him be, but if it weren't for her surviving that whole ordeal Gaius would be dead and buried already.
