My yoga instructor complimented me today. Not only was it much needed because I’m having A WEEK, but she also choose the moment I slid into an upward dog to say “That’s a good dog.”

Compliments to me for not peeing myself laughing. 🤣

It’s quality, not quantity, and I think it has very little to do with you as a person and more to do with everyone being overwhelmed by everything. And with friendship in general being really hard at our age.

I assume it's related to how their county cleans the water? It's not as strong as Pirates, but it's definitely more....chlorinated? than I'm used to.

Now, again, probably only thinking, but also maybe not. Maybe she needed to hear it was OK to be weird, and I said it at the right time.

All I know for sure is that kid is getting a REAL Labubu for Christmas (she said her current is a fake she bought with her own money).

I showed her the video of the dog rolling down the hill, and I talked to one of the older girls about JellyCats, but that was it.

FF to us leaving. I’m standing in the entry way, and I said “wait, who didn’t I hug” and she jumped towards me for a hug.

I told her, basically, that that was awesome and to keep liking weird things, and that I liked weird things too.

FF to a little later and she comes to sit with me and two of other cousins’ kids (older girls). We weren’t talking much, so we weren’t interesting, but she stuck around until dinner.

Today K’s youngest (10 yo) came over and showed a couple of the adults (including me) her Labubu, and she was super-excited. We all said we didn’t understand them (nicely, we’re not jerks), because they were just so ugly and weird and she said “that’s why I like them! I like weird things’.

I preface this by saying I am probably over thinking this, but I really worry about making an impression on my cousins’ and friends’ kids, so …(warning, long)

To start with, my cousin K’s kids aren’t very huggy. I’ve left an event more than once without one and I’m fine with that.
