I wasn't quick enough to get a screenshot but there was a YouTube ad for a device that claimed to measure blood sugar but the photo and video clearly showed a pulse oximeter.

I keep hearing health grifters talking about using IV baking soda to treat a variety of ailments.
A couple things about that:
A. Yes we do use it in a medical setting
B. For very specific purposes like metabolic acidosis
C. You'll never hear a qualified person call it "baking soda"

My dad found some accounts from his dad Jim where he narrates his life story and what he did in WWII and he starts with "At the time of my birth my two older brothers were patients in the hospital having been hit by a car a short time earlier" and he just moves on without elaboration.

I really dislike those shirts that say stuff like "My therapist/antidepressant has four legs and a wet nose" because yeah dogs and cats are nice but they aren't replacements for those things!

I'm still laughing thinking about a "paleo" blog that promoted the use of maple syrup in place of and-I-quote processed sugar.
Look I grew up in maple syrup country, my neighbors made it, and in terms of raw time maple syrup is probably *the* most time intensive variety of sugar to produce.

I was reading about war pigeons the other day and found this guy. I couldn't get the image out of my head of my poor great-grandfather Frank in a field hospital outside Meuse-Argonne after he got shot there, looking over and seeing a one legged pigeon in the bed next to him.
