Here's what I wrote last year: "2023 was an absolutely incredible year for playing video games! Every month had at least one banger - and often multiple - which exacerbated the age-old problem of "there's never enough time to play anything." Despite that, the industry also had thousands of layoffs (although never any changes to executive salaries...hmm) which makes celebrating the year feel a bit strange.
