I have so many friends and family asking me how to downgrade back to #iOS18. I’ve never had them ask before.

Sure. #iOS7 was a crazy change. But not many folks had iOS devices back then.

So I know I’m not alone in hating #iOS26.

Finally. The whole thing feels incomplete. Like a last minute homework assignment. I get it. I’m a developer. But… there are some product decisions in here that really make me question Apple’s priorities. Not that this is a new thing. But it’s gotten even worse.

The little accelerometer driven glint nonsense around the icons and dock was cute for 34 seconds.

Apple spent way too much time on the sliding down Notification Center thing. As cool as that is, I still can’t rely on the remind me filter in mail, faces in photos, or messages iCloud sync. #ios26

It’s been nearly a month since #iOS26 went live. And I’ve lived with it all summer as a developer.

Ya’ll. I’ve tried to keep an open mind. Tried to not be that old man. It does bring some welcome things. Like obvious visual feedback which died with #iOS7.

But….

iOS 26 sucks. It’s ugly and 👎🏻🤮.

It’s pretty bad when this Star Wars fan cancels Disney+.

But the First Amendment is nonnegotiable. It seemed like the one thing most Americans could really agree on.

We are in some serious trouble. And I’d like to avoid where this spiral could take us. I hope we survive to care about SW again.

I grew up with many a God fearing Christian. Folks who would say "I may not agree with what you say, but I will fight and die for your right to say it!".

Now, so many cowards are all but taking a dump on the graves of the brave men and women buried in Arlington. It's offensive and disgusting.

iPad is a bit different. It’s just as buggy, but maybe you want the new windows thing. It’s good. But not outstanding. Same recommendations for waiting.

But overall, I can’t say I’ve run into anything like data loss. Just mostly bugs and annoyances.

Liquid Glass is meh. But some good stuff too!

That said… if ya just gotta have #iOS26, then maybe wait a few days to see how things go for early adopters.

But if ya just can’t wait. No major showstoppers that I’ve come across. Just be prepared for the occasional need to force quit an app, some UI glitches, and shorter battery life.

#iOS26 update should be available in about an hour. Should you do it?

For most folks, I’d say prolly not. It’s still got some bugs and still has some issues with difficult to read text due to transparency. It’s usually best to wait until the .1 release. Or better, the .2 release.

But Laura Birn is... all the superlatives. Trying to come up with words to describe her masterful portrayal of #Demerzel... There is nothing I could say that seems worthy. You just gotta witness her perfection yourself.

Traffic was terrible though. Everyone wanted to wish us well and celebrate!

If you’re feeling brave. #iOS26 public beta is now the release candidate. Meaning it’s what is likely to go public in the next week.

Yes, there have been additional release candidates
before public release. All iOS x.0 versions have been less than ideal.

Unless really want, wait for iOS 26.2.
