Eighty years of avoiding nuclear use and here we are - watching US & Russian leaders randomly trading nuclear threats on social media. It's beyond ridiculous - it's unconscionable. It's time for them to put down their phones and get back to talks on nuclear stability. www.reuters.com/world/trump-...
Trump orders nuclear submarines moved near Russia
U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday said he had ordered two nuclear submarines to be positioned in regions near Russia in response to threats from former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

This is a new one. In order to hide the cost of Trump’s bribe from Qatar, the DoD has moved $934 million from the new ICBM program to pay for the plane’s renovations. The cost of our nuclear arsenal is so huge, that they thought no one would notice. www.nytimes.com/2025/07/27/u...

Tom Countryman at State Dept Rally right now: I cannot imagine any of the 9 Secretaries of State that I served would have accepted this decapitation, this decimation of their department with such docile obedience as Secretary Rubio.

Senator Van Hollen right now at the State Department: These firings represent America in retreat. A retreat from our principles and values.

Rubio just fired every expert at State working on multilateral nuclear arms control. Do you feel safer?
atomicbell.bsky.social
I'm hearing rumors that Secretary Rubio had RIF'ed the person who serves as the National Authority to the OPCW. Rubio has said the destruction of Syrian chemical stockpiles is a priority for him. Firing the person who leads that effort would be incompetence of the highest level.

‼️ New news on the "One Big Beautiful Bill."

It will add $3.3 trillion to the national debt over 10 years, according to CBO.

This doesn't include debt service payments, which will add at least another half trillion.

For context, the House bill *with* interest payments was $3.3 trillion.

I read Trump + Senate Republicans' "One Big Beautiful Bill" so you don't have to.

It came out at *midnight* & we're still getting numbers in from Congress's bookkeepers.

Early returns:
Nearly $1 TRILLION in Medicaid cuts.

Happy Saturday. Follow for more.

Why am I so unimpressed by these strikes? Israel and the US have failed to target significant elements of Iran's nuclear materials and production infrastructure. RISING LION and MIDNIGHT HAMMER are tactically brilliant, but may turn out to be strategic failures. 🧵 1/17
