The two clubs brought back their green and yellow kits a few years ago. Until the 2013–2014 season we had never faced each other in official competition and since then this is the fourth time we have done so: once in #UCL and three times in #UEL.

The SS Recreation Club focused on tennis and players from its football section founded the San Sebastián Foot–Ball Club, the seed of the current Real Sociedad.

We present an unpublished document: the crest of the San Sebastián Recreation Club, one of the predecessor clubs of La Real. It shares colours with Newton Heath LYR Football Club, which is now Manchester United.

In July 1905 the San Sebastián Recreation Club played in Ondarreta against a team made up of officers from the English ship H. M. S. Doris.

In 1905, Recreation wore these colours, for the first time a team from Guipuzcoa played in the Spanish Championship (now the Cup) and was runner–up after Athletic Club withdrew from the last match against the team from San Sebastián.

In March 1904 the Recreation Club flag was presented to society: “It has three green bands, divided by two yellow lines and bordered by a red border. In the centre are the letters S. S. R. C., which mean ‘San Sebastián Recreation Club’”.

Con esos colores el Recreation en 1905 jugó, por primera vez un equipo guipuzcoano, el Campeonato de España —actual Copa— quedando subcampeón tras la renuncia del Athletic Club al último partido frente a los donostiarras.

En marzo de 1904 se presenta en sociedad la bandera del Recreation Club: «Lleva esta tres bandas verdes, seccionadas por dos líneas amarillas y bordeada toda ella por un filete rojo. En el centro van las letras S. S. R. C. que significan “San Sebastián Recreation Club”».
