Last month, I went to see @londonfirebrigade.bsky.social's new wildfire fighting equipment at Wanstead Flats, a large area of open grassland. The firefighters warned of a big risk of vegetation blazes this year, because of how dry and hot it's been. Today Wanstead Flats was on fire on.ft.com/4kBKff3

There's still uncertainty around this, but I was really struck by the WMO estimating that the long-term temperature rise is 1.34-1.41C above the pre-industrial level. It was only in 2021 that the IPCC said the world had warmed by 1.1C (based on years to 2020) on.ft.com/4hjSzhR
