Trying to cover my face in screens and never be perceived again.
VR has existed too long: I realized today the high score I couldn’t beat in the VR fitness game I was playing was set when I was 26. Usually you have to be a professional athlete to get this kind of existential dread.

A note to 2025 halloween party planners: inflatable frog costumes take up approximately 1.5 people of room capacity, you're going to get some inflatable frogs

Zuck only made 9 of these - one each for the 9 largest US cities

In this way he aims to control the realms of men

So, one of my weaknesses has always been and will likely remain AR/VR/XR hardware.

It is WILD how hard it is to buy the new Meta Displays. In store only, only cities I’ve found with them are Chicago, SF, LA, NYC and Austin.

This is despite having *best buy* and *lenscrafters* as partners.

Laughing at the idea of some lucky Oracle employees being told this week they now work for “American TikTok”, and all the follow-up questions they would have to ask before understanding what that even means

I wonder how many quantum computer engineers have been asked if their computers have LLM potential by a product person recently

Now that the Disney Plus boycott is over, does this mean we’re back on schedule for America’s “politiicians quoting Disney Plus Original Series Andor™” era?

I waffle between trying to be clinical about it (shining light on their own words and actions from an information accessibility standpoint), and trying to tell the more complex story of influences and subterfuge behind the scenes, which will inherently feel more like opinion in places.

Was thinking about this recently, born of a desire to _do something_. I think it’s as important when these people inevitably try and deny and shirk responsibility in a rebuilding era. Their words and votes, presented in context, need to be attached to them and accessible.

Upsides of being trapped in a train for 36 hours: I actually called my representatives today, for the first time in an embarrassingly long time.

I’m going to be honest, I’m following because you came up when I searched for him (but knew you weren’t when I followed)

Maybe I’m wrong and DoorDash is doing like external web searches or menu parsing to get these, but the verb “generated” makes me think it just gets the item name, maybe a picture, and gets told to make the most buyable description for that item, without implying anything about food allergies. Gross.

Still thinking about this. LLMs in their current form work best when you have a large amount of Information that you want to summarize and manipulate. This is the polar opposite of that.

You can’t use an LLM to generate Information you don’t have in this kind of targeted context and provide truth.

Who tf thought this was a good idea: “oh no, we don’t have descriptions for these items, maybe we could just hallucinate some with no context or information for the model to go off of other than the name?”

I was obsessed with the concept of “printing”, so much so that my parents had to hide the USB cable for the printer at some point.

It turns out it gave off a very predictable radiation burst that, in combination with position data, gave the galaxy an opportunity to sync up.

Wow, today I learned, I had no idea this existed, and have also been frustrated by the limitations here.
