A great privilege to be with our Life Member 106-year-old Joan Daniel (neé Taylor) — WWII veteran & NZ's oldest living military nurse — for the presentation by Sir Wayne Shelford of the RNZRSA Gold Star Badge for her decades of service to the RSA movement. A wonderful lady and a well-deserved award!
On this day in 1999 @nzdf.mil.nz deployed to East Timor as part of International Force East Timor (INTERFET). It would become NZ’s largest operational deployment since the Korean War and, tragically, endured its first combat death since the Vietnam War — Private Leonard Manning. Maumahara. Remember.
Today marks the day we commemorate New Zealand's involvement in the Malayan Emergency (1948-60) and Confrontation in Borneo (1964–66). 4000 New Zealanders served in Malaya/Malaysia and 20 were killed or died. Ka maumahara. We Remember. #MalaysiaDay 🇲🇾 🇳🇿

Today is Vietnam Veterans' Day.

We remember the service and sacrifice of the 3000 New Zealanders who served in the Vietnam War, honour the memory of the 37 men who died, and acknowledge the ongoing impact on veterans and their families. #VietnamVeteransDay @nzdf.mil.nz
With the end of the war Auckland RSA went to work to welcome a new generation of returned servicemen and women. At its height, 1000 were joining a month, peaking in 1947 at 18,000 members! #VJDay
On this day 80 years ago VJ Day was celebrated with pure joy in Queen Street as seen from 3:25 with the realisation that after six long years the war was finally over.

We honour the service and sacrifice of all New Zealanders during the Second World War. #VJDay80

On this day 75 years ago the Korean War began. We recognise the service of the 6000 New Zealanders who served during the ‘Forgotten War’ and remember the sacrifice of the 45 who lost their lives. They are not forgotten. #KoreanWar75

Sit back and reflect on the Anzac Day Dawn Service at the Auckland Domain. Thank you to everyone involved in helping us to recognise our veterans and remember all those who have served our nation. #AnzacDay2025 🌺 www.maoriplus.co.nz/show/anzac-2...
For the first Anzac Day in 1916 the government called for church services and recruiting rallies but Auckland returned soldiers had already arranged with Mayor James Gunson (our first president) a parade up Queen St to a service in the Town Hall and a reunion back there at night. #anzacday #auckland
