I am an avid collector of primarily vintage high fidelity equipment. I am one of three “Audiophile Stooges” and we’re “all stupid for hifi.” I enjoy jazz, soul, new wave, Synthpop, Synthwave and classic alternative music.

A collection of introspective, meditative & spiritual piano trio pieces w/ Okonski on piano & bandmates Aaron Frazer on drums & Michael "Ish" Montgomery on bass - evoking feelings of melancholy, calmness & quiet introspection, with a blend of traditional jazz elements and a subtle, modern groove.
Magnolia is the debut solo album by jazz pianist Steve Okonski of Durand Jones & The Indications. The tracks emerged from late-night, live & improvised recording sessions, resulting in a sound that feels spontaneous and full of collective intuition. Perfect late-night tunes #jazz #vinyl #audiophile
The 1973 Power of Joe Simon is the eighth studio album by soul and R&B singer Joe Simon. Showcasing his smooth soulful style, it includes "Power of Love" which was a number one hit on the Hot Soul Singles chart. The album features Kenneth Gamble, Leon Huff & Raeford Gerald. #vinyl #soul #audiophile
One of my all time favourite album covers
This sealed album exchanged hands several times until it ended up at La Segunda Bartique & Gallery where I picked it up. The merchant at La Segunda was Ryan of Brainwave Records. I love finds like this. Anyone can buy new. But NOS is something else. #Direstraits #vinyl
Broke the seal on a 1979 new old stock Dire Straits album “Communiqué”. I’m literally the first person to play this vintage album and I think that’s pretty cool. It’s playing on my Fisher 501 Ala PE 2020 #vinyl #audiophile
Damn thats a bad week. I’ve done that, took a tumble twice! Felt like a bad movie “you’re killing Me Lisa!”
My mood tonight. No review, no commentary or analysis just listening for pure pleasure #vinyl #audiophile #steelydan
“Charles Lloyd in the Soviet Union” captures the Quartet's groundbreaking performance behind the Iron Curtain during the Cold War in 1967. They were one of the first modern #jazz groups to successfully tour the Soviet Union when jazz was still discouraged by the communist regime. #vinyl #audiophile
The 1955 Bethlehem Records K + J.J. featuring the innovative trombone duo of Kai Winding ("K") and J. J. Johnson (“J.J.”) is straight-ahead Jazz and Bop, showcasing Winding and Johnson's mastery in redefining the trombone in a modern #jazz context, with precise harmonization and lively solos. #vinyl
Johnny Hammond's 1971 “Breakout” is considered a foundational piece of the #soul-jazz and #jazz-funk genres.
The first release on the Kudu label, it features a stellar lineup of session musicians & blends hard-hitting grooves with extended, soulful solos, covering popular tunes of the day. #vinyl
The 1976 The Main Attraction by #jazz guitarist Grant Green was on the Kudu label. Firmly rooted in the soul-jazz and jazz-funk styles of the mid-70s, it features flutist Hubert Laws. While some not considered Green's best work, it is a solid example of the era's funky jazz. #vinyl #audiophile
I just picked up a vintage copy of the Half Speed Master of they album last week!
The 1963 Any Number Can Win by the legendary #jazz organist Jimmy Smith was released on Verve.
Notable for its mix of soul-jazz/hard bop organ style with a fuller big band sound, it balances his deep-groove blues-drenched organ playing with sophisticated polished production #vinyl #audiophile
Something Tender by Bud Freeman and Two Guitars was released in 1962 on United Artists Jazz. The “two guitars” refer to #jazz guitarists Carl Kress and George Barnes & The unique sound of the album comes from the combination of Freeman's tenor saxophone with the interplay of the two guitars. #vinyl
Finishing up the listening session with Carol King’s Fantasy on the #Pioneer 707 reel to reel #audiophile #analogue
Been giving the Pioneer 707 reel to reel a workout today. Started with Ramsey Lewis and moved on to Chicago III #audiophile #analogue #reeltoreel #Jazz #Rock
Did a light service on the receiver and got the turntable going for my friend’s shop La Segunda. Receiver has good sound, nice bass response and pulls in stations very well. This will make someone very happy. #Magnavox #turntable #audiophile
Is that Fek'lhr? A figure in Klingon mythology, a humanoid beast which resembled a feral, monstrous Klingon, who was the Guardian of Gre'thor.
Here is the work in progress for my #Dual 1019 #turntable. Auto start tonearm movement isn’t working yet but the auto-return, stop, start and manual position all seem to work. #vinyl #audiophile
Working on another #turntable repair (not a full restoration) for personal use - this is a #Dual 1019. Was missing parts, motor was unreliable but the PO said the tonearm was rewired. I got it going last night but still needs a little TLC #vinyl #audiophile
The Fisher 501/Perpetuum-Ebner PE2020 in action. The plinth is real wood and the motor is dead quiet. The bearing assembly is in better shape than my daily PE2020. I’m running a low budget cartridge and stylus rn. Was going to flip it but now considering keeping it. #vinyl #audiophile #turntable
Another #turntable saved & restored this week. This is a Fisher 501 which is a rebranded Perpetuum-Ebner PE 2020. Stiff tone arm, slow motor, no auto start, no right channel no cartridge/stylus. Now I’ve been listening to it all weekend. #vinyl #audiophile
