Constructing it in perspective might also be helpful, though if you’re going for a flat videogame style I’m not as familiar, i think there would be methods of constructing in that style

Oh i thought that was intentional 🗿, the roof looks like its like, flat and then tapers up at the edges. Definitely recommend pulling up some references and doing some studies if you’re not familiar with house designs and stuff.

Color scheme. The blue vine thingies were just for fun to be honest. I think they don’t fit the environment much, but that’s ok since overall the experiment of the piece was to make something surrealistic anyways. Uhh, yeah, thats how I got to this color scheme.

-lighting. The pink character’s colors are uh, a silly story. My teacher said she hates the color scheme of pink, orange, and green. She claimed they cannot be made to work together. I…I’m not a fan of that teacher, so I took it as a challenge, since i realized I never really tried working with-

Originally the other boxes were also going to be in black and white, but then i messed up and used a red by misreading an area of the sketch, so i rolled with it. Assuming that the light was at the top, i just adjusted the color i used for shading as I went up the piece to show the changing ambient-

- since this piece was really big. So i decided, what if everything was super bright and colorful, like those pieces people try to sell on the streets of new york, but the focal point was super desaturated, and thats how i get that contrast.

My teacher wanted some super bright and colorful. I decided to use oil pastels. when there is something super bright and colorful you usually need a mix of saturations to make sure the piece isnt too distracting in every location. For oil pastels though, I did not want to deal with mixing them,-

I wanted to use ink washes and a dip pen, but my teacher said no. So now that what I wanted was out the window, I kinda lost any attachment to the piece itself, so I decided to use that to my advantage and make it experimental, since a failed experiment would not be catastrophic at that point.

This piece was for a school project focusing on perspective. I didn’t want to do a bunch of buildings or something along those lines because intricate detailing can be my greatest nemesis. So i decided to shove these lil things into boxes. Originally, this piece was going to be in black and white.
