Teach kids to think for themselves and develop their own core values, and they won’t have to substitute their absence with religious dogma that inevitably leads to conservatism and anti-autonomous, anti-agentic political views later in life.

Take some personal responsibility in your country.

Or, you can stop putting religion on a political pedestal and giving it air in your society.

Start putting rational objective thought on a pedestal instead, and make critical thinking and developing your own values a core part of your education system.

Substitution of tariffs with investments is a far better win-win strategy.

It will raise the prices for those EVs, but at the same time, substitute in for US companies reducing their investments in Canadian manufacturing.

Investments will show as an asset on Chinese balance sheets and contribute to Canadian GDP and job growth or at least job retention.

Instead of 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs, require Canadian manufacturing investment in components that is job producing and some percentage lower than the current tariff rate as an incentive to China.

Moderation doesn’t scale. Self applied filters and feed prioritization, and taking responsibility for who we give air time to is scalable.

Moderation is just babysitting. And we know it doesn’t work because the Nazis will just create their own sites and forums and still be promoting their💩.

That way, we can control who gets the proverbial air, and who suffocates. And the onus is not on mods, but on the individuals to take some responsibility for their consumption.

It’s not my job to tell people what they should say or do. It’s my job to give them my air or not.

Create a platform, avoid hidden algorithms that bias the feeds, and provide great tools for self-applied moderation of content.

It would be interesting to expose algorithmic content scoring values to user controlled filters and feed prioritization.

I owned a copy of Fantastic, along with Dynamite and Sound Explosion back in the day (Canadian editions that varied slightly). Sadly most of my pre-teen vinyl disappeared at some point. I will have to create a Fantastic playlist to match my other two playlists for Dynamite and Sound Explosion.

This bodes so well for trans and queer indie cinema, and the interest that viewers have in seeing movies that push the envelope.
