Please allow me to introduce myself. I'm an author of espionage novels, most of them centred around a British spy named Emma Makepeace. Her task is to find and remove Russian spies operating inside the UK. Let's just say things get a little... heated.

Stopped the car in the middle of the (quiet) road to take this photo because I have NEVER seen a more perfect October sky. Well done, universe. 10/10.

Can't wait for this panel at Chiswick Book Festival in 2 weeks! We'll be talking spies, lies, and killers, and if that doesn't hook you in, I don't know what will. A few tickets are still available. Chiswick is one of my favourite festivals. Come join us! www.ticketsource.co.uk/chiswickbook...

I believe for many years that phrase had to appear in every young adult novel. It was the LAW. Even now you're looked at askance if you don't include it.

My fashion goals going forward are to be just half as glamorous and eccentric as Elisabeth McGovern's Tatler photos.

torturous = like torture

A letter written by Greta Garbo in 1964. 'I can speak to no one.' 💔 Introverts everywhere would understand.

Oh yes, me too! My childhood library was books from floor to ceiling in every room. It was a den of magic for me. I remember it vividly, and I haven't seen it since I was 10 years old. The approach that books aren't enough in libraries is basically the opposite of all that I believe.

The house once shared by John Cassavetes and Gina Rowlands looks exactly as you'd think it would. Cool 1950's Hollywood.

I live an hour from London and parking at the station here is £8.50 a day. It's usurious but normal, I fear.

Libraries without books break my heart.

To be fair, I'm extremely elusive.

I hope the man I spotted on the M3 30 minutes ago heading out of London singing and conducting an imaginary orchestra while also driving perfectly is one of you. We should all be this skilled.
