ive been putting off a linkedin post but i accepted a full time role a while back that I believe precludes working on deer, which is why i haven't come back to it

my read of that post is to give context for the blacksky feature not to call you an extension of ice. who knows idk what is in anyone’s heart. i do really feel there was a pattern of devs making pretty nasty posts on alts worth addressing and you got lumped in with that in the wider discourse

when i say im not happy w how any of this was handled it includes that post but that may not have been clear 🫠 i do not think you are an extension of ice. my post this morning was specifically in response to seeing peoples reaction to pronouns labeler gone and associated events

i don’t actually know what it was referring to then? i’ve seen you beef w people about the scale of the alt appview projects?
i really do genuinely think saying blacksky is for people with annoying politics is bad. idk. yeah there can be a reason you said it but it might just be a bad thing to say

which is i guess what im trying to get at? i think its totally fine to disagree on a technical level but when it becomes this simmering animosity towards everyone doing atproto in a way slightly different from their vision i think thats gross, counterproductive and not what i want to associate w

there is a lot going on in this discourse, vague posting might be the devil. i’m reacting to too many different things—people insulting rudy or other devs on alt for example. in an ideal world it would just be a technical disagreement but people made (joke?) posts that framed it on other grounds.

i think what’s “off” about it is taking a technical grievance and making it personal? maybe? i’m struggling to describe why i don’t like it beyond feeling it’s the kind of thing i would personally be v embarrassed to say. ethnocentric was def part of the problem as a choice of words, lot of baggage

that’s all fair! the collapse on this has been pretty brutal. i wish i had said something when i saw the posts on your alt but i didn’t wanna stir then either. regrettable, and im sorry. specifically the posts calling it ethnocentric or saying it’s a pds for annoying politics feel very off to me

i graduated ! and got a job lol
regret graduating so early, feel pretty isolated but it is what it is. my last semester was really really nice. work is exciting and i hope to eventually be good at it

yeah… this sucks! i’m not going to add clarity here people involved have apologized or deactivated and i don’t think i could feel proud of sending more animosity their way. “alt where i vent about other people in the community on the public microblogging site” is bad though people should not do that
