But how do I, an individual born outside the stated years, keep up with xkcd and saturdaymorningbreakfastcereal? Can we petition exception status by submitting some number of original memes, or a promise to keep archives of specified content for the "aftertimes"? If it helps, I did play Adventure.

At some point, some company had programmed a series of phone numbers for access to the Internet, and had typo'd one of them as my home (wired) phone number. It took months for the phone company to contact the other company and fix the screw-up.

Or, given today's lax enforcement of antitrust laws, they could agree to keep prices high and divide the market among themselves. Many industries have high enough barriers to entry that new entrants couldn't gain a foothold even by offering a lower price to consumers. Also, see the history of OPEC.

Correlation is not causation. There could be many reasons for price reductions in China, including instructions from the government to make consumer goods less costly in order to appease the masses. Unfortunately, data from China is as untrustworthy as US data is about to become.

Scam alert: there's an IngramSpark impersonator at ingramsparkbookpublishers dot com. Part of a wave of publishing/ghostwriting scams from Pakistan that hijack authors looking to self-publish--they often "borrow" well-known publisher names but this one also "borrows" the real IngramSpark's logo

@pfrazee.com or anyone else - can you help with this? For a while, whenever I clicked on a post to read a thread, then hit the internal "back" button, it would reload my "following" feed. It's doing it again. Left-clicking the post doesn't work to open it in a new tab. Why won't it just go back?

I would have, but the adrenaline from having cold-cocked the intern/resident who tried to shove a drainage tube down my throat kept me agitated enough. (The nurse, who was amused by the process, then told the doc to spray the back of my throat with an anesthetic, which solved the problem.)

I feel your pain. Even drinking gallons of water leading up to the draw doesn't help. My favorite: when my appendix was near bursting, they couldn't hit a vein for the relevant drips, so they had to use my neck.

Ditto to the recommendations for a recliner (veteran of two shoulder and two hip replacements). Make sure the lever to raise/lower the footrest is on the side of the arm that still works.

Also recommend a shoulder ice pack and a computer mouse that you can use with either hand. Shirts with snaps!
