I've gotten way more entertainment from watching @yogscast.com make the cruelest possible jafa factory in Minecraft or accidently launch cars into space in ContractVille than I have watching just about anything else in the last decade...

I am someone who is big on Story.
I got into making games because I wanted to tell deep, complex, interesting stories with complicated characters. (Haven't managed to do that yet)
I can't help but feel like I'm alone - most stuff feels like it's just made to be played in the background as noise.

I feel like every movie/show (with few exceptions) for the last 15+ years have been like this though.
The writing is shallow. The dialog is just people talking at each other. Things happen because 'plot' and not for any real reason... Characters either don't grow at all or have their 1 Big Moment™

The movie started with the 4 characters being famous for their thing just showing us how good they could do their thing until the end of the movie.
Ben - famous for being sad & clobbering things - clobbered things & was sad.
Mr F - famous for being smart - solved problems by being smart.

I just watched new Fantastic Four & was massively underwhelmed. I had been looking forward to it. I thought making it sort of a 'period piece' (Super-science future of 60s) was brilliant - but it fell completely flat.
No one grew/learned anything.
It was a series of conversations in different rooms

The OG is not *played* as a comedy. It is completely, deadly serious. The humor does not come from gags or jokes but mostly dialog - usually to one another.
Venkman can't help but be a wiseass entire time almost as a defense.
Only the soundtrack informs us 'this is supposed to be funny' at times.

The Stay-Puft M Man would be 'performing' down the street, stomping on cars, waving his arms and knocking over building, cackling & taunting the GBs.

In the OG he is menacing because he *lumbers* slowly, steadily, directly towards them unconcerned & uncaring about the destruction. He has weight.

Today's movies are made so much differently than they used to be.

If the OG Ghostbusters was made today it would be an unwatchable mess.

Everything would be played for laughs. Every character a shallow caricature. Dialog would be everyone trying to out-quip each other.

Yeah I hate when that happens.

I have embedded a url-lock in a few games (if they access the game from a non-whitelisted) URL it only displays an error) but if I forget to do it before they steal a copy it's too late.
