Have you noticed how the mismatch between the newness of your socks and the newness of your underwear gets worse over time, as people keep giving you socks for various occasions, but hardly ever new pairs of underwear since it's socially awkward zone?

"What does this all mean? 🧐
Let’s break it down. 👇"

How about you write the copy on your online shop like you're talking to adults and not kids with attention difficulties, and I'll consider buying from you?

In the meantime, I'll look for a place that doesn't make me feel like it's making me […]

What are the stories and articles that are like "Trump said this, the White House defended it" trying to achieve?

They are the same people. There's no meaningful difference between the two entities, from a media perspective.

Providing some helpful and constructive feedback on the UK's Cyber Essentials scheme, a set of controls to ensure organisation have a base level of IT security.

That's right kids, full disk encryption for laptops in not considered a bare minimum of #infosec for #cyberessentials.

Atlassian took like 10 years to make team avatars changeable in #jira (not exaggerating) and it doesn't even work.

You won't be surprised to hear that this #gdpr consent thing:
- only offers "accept" as a quick option
- puts refusing behind a "more information" thing
- lists tens of trackers, sorry, "partners" with a pre-checked (opt-out: illegal) "legitimate interest" switch (also illegal), hidden behind […]

#olio is an app to fight food waste. It let's you find food that would otherwise go off, give food, but also things.

As the goal is decent, I was willing to overlook some of the bad, starting with it not being FOSS.

A few years ago, the web version of the service was killed off. Hmm.

Then […]

This guy named Ben Palmer made an "Immigration tip line" and people call it thinking he's ICE.

He records them and shares it with the world.

What do people sound like when reporting their neighbors, coworkers, students? Are they confident they are doing a righteous good thing?

Here the […]

There's a dude with a Saves The Day hoodie at the co-working space. Specifically a "Through Being Cool" one.

I will just have to ask him if he is Banned from the Back Porch.

So many impressions from my first visit at #fosdem

One is the vast amount of stickers @nlnet offered at their stand. One stack of stickers for each project they funded. Absolutely impressive.

Verry happy i managed to squeeze in a quick dinner at the Judy Vegan post #fosdem in Brussels last night, before my train. As usual, satisfying food and a friendly atmosphere.

I nearly made myself late but it was worth it.

Next year, we should petition for them to be part of the food offering […]

Next year, #fosdem will be IPv6 only.

So Github will break, as it is IPv4 only (unless they get their act together).

I never understood why so many men associate with imagery of predatory animals.

My idealized version of my own masculinity is best represented by a tree. Patient. Immensely endurant. Self-sufficient. Unbothered by trivial, ephemereal affairs. Innately kind to the world around it.

Seriously, it's a chat system we use for business, you now a professional setting, why would you suggest I react with "😘" or "🫶", what's wrong with you?

Also, the list of "frequently used" shows emojis I've literally never used. Again, what's wrong with you Slack?
January 29, 2026 at 11:54 AM
Another thing in Slack i find grating and makes me wonder how people can consider it the "gold standard of enterprise communication" or whatever: emoji reactions.

You can add custom emojis, OK that's neat, Matrix still can't do it (it will eventually, it's highly requested and some clients […]
