I keep forgetting that in ffxiv, Ivalice is an ancient civilisation.

Therefore, Saffron's technically from Golmore Jungle, Kingdom of Dalmasca, Othard.

Don't come for me, I played FF12 and Tactics Advance as a teenager. It's embedded in my brain. 🤣

Saffron has a lot of guilt embedded in her psyche for leaving Ivalice before the Garleans attacked, knowing she could have done more to help. Because of this, she tirelessly tries to help as many people as she can with the power she has. Until recently, she felt unworthy of her Echo.

Safja chose Saffron as she knew it was a girl's name and had quite the taste for the local saffron-infused pilau rice. Yesenia was feminine name, meaning "flower or palm tree," that sounded close enough to Yascaret. She also adopted the colour pallete of the Saffron Crocus for her dancing outfits.

So my girl is known as Safja Yascaret as her "forest name." She left Golomore Jungle before Ivalice was taken over by the Garleans.
She moved to Radz-at-Han and made her way as a dancer & studied alchemy. She adopted the name Saffron Yesenia while there to assimilate better with the local culture.
