When not equipped with a ventral pod, the B-58 had to be balanced on the ground with a 6,160 lb weight attached to the forward pod latch, which you can see in this picture as the white block hanging just aft of the nose gear doors.

An empty B-58A (aircraft № 16-116), according to the 28 March 1969 flight manual, weighs ≈ 58,000 lb, essentially the same as the 57,916 lb given in Jay Miller's book.
Max take-off weight: 163,000 lb (limited by landing gear).
Max inflight weight: 176,890 lb (after aerial refueling).

Now let's look at a some specifications.

Empty weight varies depending on the source & time. An empty B-58A (aircraft № 31-38) according to the 27 November, 1959 flight manual, weighs ≈ 52,500 lb.
