sorry but adding to this thread again. imo an exception to my “tag whatever you want” rule is def danmei fandoms or any media where the creator has a designated dynamic bc i’d want to respect the creator’s wishes

and tbh power dynamic matters more to me than t/b. eg top bruce and power bottom bruce are the same to me 😭

- 100 authors can write the same dynamic in 100 diff ways, so there’s no guarantee a properly tagged fic wouldn’t upset them
- and they’d think the author should add more specific tags wrt the dynamic bc the general t/b tags might be “misleading”
- and the cycle goes on

- sometimes when i read a fic that doesn’t tag t/b it surprises me in the best way possible and i actually appreciate it when my expectations are subverted
- sometimes i read a fic that does tag t/b the characterization and dynamic still isn’t what i wanted at that moment

- as i do have a t/b preference for some ships i filter for fics by the Top XX / Bottom XX tags sometimes, so i do miss out on fics i would’ve liked but were untagged in this regard. but it’s fine! it’s just that i’m not fated to read it at this moment! it’ll come back eventually!

- it’s within your right to advocate for the tagging system you think works better
- however insulting other people for not following whatever system you follow is extremely rude and entitled
- consumerism will be the downfall of fandom
