I even dread the concept of public domain because of stuff like this. They think it's free real estate to completely ruin something, and the creator wouldn't do anything about it.

Remember that trend of horror movies being made once certain IPs became public domain a few years back?

This right here perfectly sums up my hatred of the whole "if you put your creations out in public, it no longer belongs to you" mindset.

The amount of entitlement and disrespect some people have over your work because it's out in public is just insane and disgusting.
