The official account of the Shawnee Mission West Pride Bands, Dance team and Color guard! Located in Overland Park, KS, the West Pride Band is the only band to have been invited to the London New Years Day Parade 11 times in a row!

Man.....

I'm super tired.

8 straight hours of marching in the hot 80⁰ sun, with over half of that time including marching with an 30-50 pound instrument has made me feel dead.

And yet?

MARCHING BAND STILL WORTH IT BABY!

I actually learned more in marching band about how to be a successful cartoonist than I ever did in art classes! Skill building, working the craft, daily discipline and routine, all of that came from band. After my aborted 6 month stay at art school, I never took another art class.

So proud of the marching band tonight. We relearned the opener drill with completely new drill for the guard and some for the horn line AND we were able to play and march it tonight!
