💰Not all coins were stamped in a press. Some of the earliest coins were cast.
Creating a hollow mould that is then filled with molten metal is a process 1,000s of years old. This Moroccan mould produced 14 coins at once.

This bronze coin is from the Xin, or “new,” Dynasty. Hardly new any longer, the dynasty’s emperor Wang Mang was overthrown and assassinated around 2,000 years ago! #FridayFunFact

Quebec’s provincial bird is the snowy owl. It can be seen across Canada and the northern United States in winter, but during the summer it lives exclusively in the Arctic—and on the Birds of Canada series $50. 😉

The HMS Feversham, a British warship, sank at Scatarie Island near Louisbourg, Cape Breton in 1711.
Amongst its cargo was a hoard of coins from several places, including this 17th century Bolivian coin.
