The body of Ukrainian journalist Viktoriia Roshchyna, who died in Russian captivity and was tortured, was missing several internal organs, according to a publication by an international journalists' network. In the reports initiated by "Forbidden Stories" under the title "Viktoriia Project," an international forensic expert explains that the missing organs may have been intentionally removed to conceal signs of asphyxiation or strangulation. This was reported by the newspaper "Ukrainska Pravda," which participated in the investigation, among others. The investigation in Ukraine revealed that Roshchyna's brain, eyes, and part of her trachea had been removed. More than 40 journalists from international media outlets such as "Der Spiegel" participated in the investigation. Roshchyna's body was handed over at the end of February, and her death was announced in October 2024. According to the reports, her body was incorrectly identified in Russian documents as an "unknown male." A forensic examination in Ukraine later determined that she was Roshchyna. Numerous traces of torture and ill-treatment were found on her body, according to Yuri Belousov, head of the War Crimes Department at the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office. Experts also said there were signs that Roshchyna may have been tortured with electric shocks. Investigators also found traces of an autopsy conducted in Russia before her transfer to Ukraine.
