Lovely bunch of amateur astronomers in and around the historic city of Bath, Somerset, UK. Rescuing telescopes from dusty cupboards, sharing how-tos, and inspiring minds with outreach are our things. Registered Charity Number 1215572.
Joe, Jonathan and Simon had great fun this evening at the Herschel Museum of Astronomy welcoming guests to an evening under the clouds and chatting about Dark Skies, Elon Musk, and the Herschel family.

Bath Astronomers are delighted to support the Museum and continue to be the resident astronomers.

Schools have been amazing and invited us in our the last few weeks to support the National Curriculum and Yr5s doing Space or simply to bring science to life in the classroom.

Busy days but so much fun. Never gets boring with questions on black holes, alien life, and when the Sun will explode.

Getting out and about to talk about astronomy in the local community and how it can help from stress management and relaxing to inspiring people to think beyond their iPhone and Traitors.
Welcomed by Toni Green at Radio Bath to chat on air about outreach and Bath Astronomers.

Explored the roof space of Bath Abbey before stargazing with 50 people up on the Abbey's Tower roof.
Tough to start with as the rain was horizontal and blowing a hooley, but with patience, the rain stopped, the clouds broke and the heavens laid bare.

Delighted to pop over to BoA yesterday to meet 1st Bradford-on-Avon Brownies and their leaders. Such a fun and well behaved group of young people.

"Be Prepared" we certainly were. Despite the Met Office forecasting full cloud, everyone got to see the Moon craters and Saturn and its edge on rings.

The Friends of Box School delivered a 24hr miracle this evening organising a wonderful evening of astronomy, activities, hot chocolate and cake open to the whole school. Making planispheres and paper rockets, creating new constellations and looking through big telescopes at the Moon and Saturn.

"Make hay whilst the sun shines" should have an astro outreach equivalent " Get Scouts Space Activity badges whilst the skies are clear".

Met over 100 cubs and scouts across 4 groups this week to take them stargazing for their UK Space Agency approved Space Activity Badges.

The forgotten sibling, Alexander Herschel, was born this day in 1745.

Alexander, brother of Caroline and William, was the engineer that enabled his siblings to do such amazing work. He built the mechanisms and structures that made great discoveries possible.

Happy 280th birthday Alexander.

Nice to have a public stargazing session last night at Lansdown Playing Fields South after a spell of weather cancellations.

The building clouds hampered having a good gander but there were satellites aplenty, a meteor or two, Saturn, Neptune, globular and open clusters, and a galaxy before pack up

The problem with astronomy outreach is that you must be well behaved all the time... not tonight!!
