WOW. What an amazing day of scientific discovery! Thank you so much to everyone who came out to UCSF Mission Bay for the 12th edition of the Bay Area Science Festival. We turned the campus into a scientific wonderland, with experiments happening in every direction.
Two more days, everyone! Curious minds, science enthusiasts, and kids and adults of ALL ages are invited to join us for the 12th edition of the Bay Area Science Festival this Saturday Oct 25 at UCSF Mission Bay. Rain or shine, we'll see you there. Free for all to attend!
3 MORE DAYS until we take over Koret Quad with 125+ scientific exhibits, demonstrations, and games for all ages. Plus, there will be stage events throughout the day, where you can listen to UCSF grad students try to explain their research in 3 mins or less and participate in a live science podcast.
4 more days until BASF! Have you taken a look at our stage events and tours? We have just a few spots left in our BTS UCSF lab tours, and stage events are first-come first-served. Make sure to check out the full lineup and plan your day.

We'll see you on the Koret Quad on Saturday at 11!

Mentos and Coke is a classic, much-loved experiment amongst kids and teens: it's equal parts exciting and messy. Luckily, the Bay Area Science Festival is the perfect place to get into some science fun that you might rather not do at home. 😉
California Biodiversity Day was on Sunday, and we’re celebrating all week. At BASF 2025, discover river otters, a mobile aquarium, Northern Spotted Owls, and more. Join us October 25 at UCSF’s Mission Bay Campus for the Bay Area Science Festival!
If THIS is your dream job... you'll want to come to BASF! The Bay Area Science Festival is your opportunity to connect with professional scientists from all around the Bay Area. October 25th is just around the corner, and we can't wait!
The BASF 2025 exhibitor cohort is filling up fast and it is looking INCREDIBLE. Think: Robots playing hockey, a seat in a real airplane cockpit, and an up-close look at leopard sharks in The Marine Science Institute's shark trailer. Which sounds most exciting to you?! Tell us in the comments!
School is kicking off this week and next around the Bay Area - and that means that local robotics teams will be getting back to their projects, too! We can’t WAIT to see what high school robotics competitors will bring to the robot Zoo at BASF this year. They are always mega inspiring!
The Science of Bubbles exhibit is always a hit - with ALL ages. Who doesn't love a giant bubble?

BASF is packed with 100+ scientific exhibits, games, and demonstrations for children and adults alike. Come on out October 25th and join our local Bay Area community of STEM-enthusiasts!
Here's a little throwback to a fan-favorite exhibit from festivals' past: roasting marshmallows in the SUN. Bring your sunglasses to the Bay Area Science Festival 2025, because there's going to be more solar-powered fun happening at this year's family-friendly event at UCSF Mission Bay!
Calling all geology enthusiasts! As a part of 100+ exhibits at BASF, attendees can check out a (mini) volcano eruption, build an earthquake-proof table, and learn about California's geologic wonders. We'll see you there on October 25th at UCSF's Mission Bay campus - it's going to rock! 😉
One of the coolest parts of the Bay Area Science Festival is the opportunity to meet local role models working in whichever scientific discipline is most interesting to YOU. What are you hoping to see at BASF 2025?!
Here in the Bay Area, we have incredible access to nature - and a love of the natural world goes hand-in-hand with a love of SCIENCE! BASF is the perfect place to introduce budding naturalists to local STEM role models - from geologists and astronomers, to botanists, and marine biologists.
It's the height of summer, but we're already looking ahead to the fall when BASF returns! How about a little throwback to some amazing moments from past festivals? At BASF you can: hold (huge) live bugs, get an up-close look at a beehive, learn about immune cells... the discoveries are endless.
Happy July! Each day brings us closer to BASF 2025, and we can't wait to share with you 100+ games, exhibitions, opportunities to meet STEM role models, scientific experiments, and so much more. We'll see you on October 25th, 2025 at UCSF's Mission Bay Campus. 🤩🧪🔬
Gracie is coming BACK to BASF! Gracie is a 30-foot long grey whale skeleton - and a star of festivals' past. We are so excited to be collaborating with @missionscienceworkshop again this year to bring you all the opportunity to get up close and personal with Gracie. Join us October 25, 2025!
Who remembers the Cell-fie booth from festivals' past? Did you snap a photo? We're going to continue making memories at this year's BASF with the Cell-fie booth - and hundreds of other games, exhibitions, performances, and activities. See you there?!
