Stand UP, Speak OUT: The Personal Politics of Women's Rights, a docuseries. Stories from women of the 1960s generation–what's changed, and, how far still to go.
Dorothy Irene Height (March 24, 1912 – April 20, 2010) is often called the “Godmother” of the Civil Rights Movement, but titles don’t capture her impact. As a Black woman leader, she built power in spaces that rarely made room for women’s voices. 🧵

On Presidents’ Day (Feb 16, 2026), we honor those who held the office. But we must also honor those who should have.
Shirley Anita St. Hill Chisholm (Nov 30, 1924 – Jan 1, 2005) forced America to confront who it deems “presidential.”

Honoring Susan B. Anthony means telling the full history: celebrating her leadership while learning from the movement’s failures. The fight for women’s rights—and human rights—has always demanded honesty, accountability, and a broader vision of justice.

Anthony never lived to see the 19th Amendment ratified in 1920, fourteen years after her death. Her organizing helped make it possible—but her legacy also reflects the racial limits of 19th-century reform movements and the exclusions built into early suffrage politics.

In 1869, Anthony co-founded the National Woman Suffrage Association to push for a constitutional amendment for women’s voting rights. In November 1872, she voted in Rochester, NY—was arrested, and tried in 1873, turning her case into a national debate on democracy and citizenship.

February 15 marks Susan B. Anthony Day. We remember Susan Brownell Anthony, a central figure in the U.S. women’s suffrage movement who challenged a nation that denied women political power. Her fight unfolded in the 19th century, when women were legally barred from voting.

Love has never existed outside politics. When governments decide who can marry, who can form a family, or whose love is “legitimate,” love becomes a human rights issue.

On February 3, 1870, the 15th Amendment was ratified, declaring that the right to vote could not be denied based on race. In the aftermath of the Civil War (1861–1865), Black men gained the vote for the first time in U.S. history. This was a major step toward democracy—but it was incomplete.

Black History Month (Feb 2, 2026) reminds us of a truth too often erased: Black History is Women’s History. From slavery through Jim Crow to today, Black women have been central to every major struggle for freedom in the U.S.

We’re witnessing a chilling shift from rhetoric to "pattern and practice." The killing of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent—and the subsequent victim-blaming by top administration officials—highlights a deepening crisis of institutionalized misogyny.
