Yes and no. Depends on what we are talking about. Supernatural witches, not a thing. However, currently in Salem, MA, there are 30+ covens, mostly practicing the modern religion of Wicca. Find out more about cunning folk and the Puritan's concept of witches in my blog post. You might be surprised.

Bunghole Liquor in Salem, MA, is the best double, triple entendre ever. Feel free to read it a couple of times if you need to. A bunghole in the classic sense is the name of the opening in a liquor cask from which said liquor is poured from. Bottoms up, Salem, and please stay weird and wonderful. 🤪

It requires a special tool, which I didn't understand when I bought it. Luckily, they are easy to find online. It looks like a small ice pick. You push it into the corner until a chuck breaks off. The bricks are now more commonly found in Asia.

Found this beautiful black tea brick in Salem, MA, at the National Park visitor center off of Derby Street. The tea leaves are compressed into a tight brick and embossed with patterns on both sides.

The best stories start with good research. Books and podcasts are invaluable but nothing beats inperson research. Walk the streets, smell the air, and hear sounds in the distance. All of this helps paint a picture, and if you've done it right, the place becomes a character, too.
