Happy #BiodiversityDay! 🌎 Biodiversity supports seed dispersal, which shapes the composition and structure of many ecosystems. The myriad benefits to people provided by those ecosystems would not be possible without these unsung heroes. Read more in our paper just out in @natrevbiodiv.nature.com !
Pollinator decline has captured global attention, but another plant-animal mutualism is quietly unraveling.

Our new Nature Reviews Biodiversity article synthesizes global evidence on seed disperser decline and what it means for plant biodiversity, ecosystem recovery, and climate adaptation. 🧵
Drivers and impacts of global seed disperser decline
Nature Reviews Biodiversity - Many plants rely on animals to disperse their seeds, but some groups of these seed-dispersing animals are facing severe declines. This Review summarizes evidence of...

Our new paper out yesterday shows the co-dependence of ecosystem services. In a previous effort we mapped the planet's critical natural assets for people and now we've mapped the areas that support those critical areas by providing moisture regulation. Open access at: doi.org/10.1017/sus....

Only 18% of global lands critical for biodiversity and supporting human well-being are protected and more than a third show high potential for development. Our paper out today shines a light on these high value areas & the need for strategic spatial planning so people & nature can thrive together!
