I learned a new word today! A student wanted to set the goal of making his parents proud, so I translated it as “hacer que estén orgullosos de mí”. Well after class I learned that there’s a verb for to make proud! Enorgullecer (-zco). Quite a mouthful but super fun to learn!
One of the lines is „Hier an der Playa sind wir nie allein”. The German word for beach is der Strand. To say we are on a beach, you’d say „Wir sind am Strand”. But in the song, she says an der Playa, which means playa in German is feminine, just like in Spanish. Strand, on the other 🖐️, is masculine
I’ve gotten back into listenING to German music. One that randomly came up on Apple Music awhile ago was is called Mallorca (I don’t know why Germans seem particularly obsessed but it’s a place that actually comes up in a lot of songs I’ve heard). ANYWAY, the language thing:

The plural of schema is schemata. Yes, schemas is also valid, but @merriam-webster.com lists schemata first, and I think that’s just swell.
