There has been a lot of negativity about 2025 with wars, political upheaval and unrest around the world. Hope is the way to overcome gloom, foreboding and uncertainty. We have to be the 'hope in a hopeless world' - a song brilliantly covered by Paul Young.

All the agencies and action groups agree the single most important measure that can be taken is to scrap the two child cap on benefits; a cruel Dickensian punishment on the poor levied by two obscenely rich public school boys Cameron and Osborne. Four months into a Labour government.. nothing -why?

An inspiring sight, unity and not division will move our country forward. What is the large church shown in the main photograph? St Gabriel's?

Despair about the election of Trump. The truism t
'you get the leaders you deserve' springs to mind and a lot of people voted for him. The world is arguably a more complex and dangerous place than before and his simplistic solutions will not work. Moderate leaders must work around the bombast.

It seems a gentler, more considered online space. My only advice to anyone on social media - don't overreact!

Speculation on the budget has intensified. The government has to rebuild after fourteen tough years. Labour governments are rare and attacks from within the party are unhelpful. The press will rubbish everything to make the Tories relevant. Rushed judgements are not effective.

Thought it was a well written piece with the telling phrase 'to govern is to choose ' . It's too early to commend or condemn our new government. The October budget will give more information on the long term plans. Cannot endorse any government that persists with the Dickensian two child policy.

An interesting article and whilst the aftermath of mindless violence demands a firm response, the challenge for the Labour party is to address the root causes of the inequality of opportunity in our society.
This involves restoring public services, educational & employment opportunities -good luck
