I may or may not shut up about this soon but this is the 9th women's world cup final in my lifetime. The first one was played in front of a crowd of 5,000 people. Today's will be played in front of 82,000. This is incredible. #WRWC2025 #RugbyWorldCup #WomesRugbyWorldCup
Well, one of us is living in a parallel reality, and I don't think it's me, but I'm less and less sure of that each day.
I think the defensiveness (collectively as such) comes from a fear, and not a misplaced one either, that sanctions and restrictions on cars will come before the necessary replacement infrastructure, making them poorer both in terms of time and money, before they see any benefits to the change.
I work in the public transport sector, so I can say I wouldn't oppose it, but I do agree that is often the case. And yes, a better public transport system would bring more equity to more people. It would be beneficial for more than just me for thete to be better public transport links.
So my 20 minute commute becomes 60 with precision timing. Twice a day, 3 times a week is an extra 240 mins or 4 hours spent commuting, and quite frankly, it is 4 hours of my week I just do not have to spare. I would love for there to be public transport that gets me there in a comparable time.
People won't give up their cars whilst commuting is still 3x quicker than public transport. It would take me the length of my car journey (20 mins) to walk to the other end of the village (1 mile) to even catch the bus that would take me to my destination twice as slowly as driving (40 mins) 🤷‍♀️
I know I say this from a place of privilege, but airport lounge access when flying is an absolute game changer for me as an autistic person. Whilst the free food and drink are definitely not to be sniffed at, it's the peace, calm and comfortable seating that makes it so worthwhile.
Have managed to balance having our friend and Godson coming to stay with getting the house back in order after a busy few weeks and doing some cooking and baking, so am feeling pretty damn content about it all 🥰
Can confirm medical compression tights and heatwaves are not happy bedfellows! 🫠😩🥵
Idk what's going on in Peterborough, but all my journeys in the last 24 hours have taken two to three times as long as they should have done 😭🫠
Houston we have a problem. I bought new bedding the other day, I found the softest, comfiest bedding I could find.

It's gorgeous and now I'm stuck here forever...
Oh no! That's wasn't my intention 😬
Singer, snack, or both?
Those purrs are THUNDEROUS 🥰🥰
Of course it's the day you're already running late that traffic's terrible and you get stuck behind both a tractor and a bin lorry along the way 😥
First swift of the year seen! My favourite sound of summer is baaaaack 🥰🥰🥰
We started at Piccadilly Circus. Husband then went from there to hide at Royal Albert on the DLR so he could watch the planes at City airport from cross the dock.

We then chose bank so we could hide in a little yard down some of the tiny lanes in the city.
We had the best time! Husband's final hiding time was 4hrs 18 mins with time bonuses, ours was 2 hours 47 mins which doesn't feel like a disgrace! We did have a big 'we went on the wrong branch line of the DLR issue though' 😭😂
Off to play #JetLagTheGame Hide and Seek in London with my husband and my bestie and honestly, name a better Saturday! What a treat (bookmark this for later when I'm having a "we went the wrong way" breakdown)!
The Pope's not dumb enough to give Pete or his cronies any of his contact details.
As per the rules, reposting this. One of the greatest Internet moments of all time, just mildly alarmed it was a whole 8 years ago!
eight years ago today we all watched the glory of zendaya falling madly in love with tom holland and the internet was never the same
I'm sorry your world sucks, Bob. The rest of us are enjoying Tom's insane performance skill, for one thing.
I maintain that train carriages should be quiet coaches as standard because I really don't care about this very loud man's corporate woes.
Sylvia is an older lady now, understated in the way Mary Berry is but has her wicked sense of humour too. Elegant, seen it all before but knows how to make the perfect summer G&T and how to keep up with the gossip at a garden party.
Tiffany is classy, like an old classic film of her name and prefers perls to diamonds. Daddy's a Baron rather than a Duke but she knows the rules and could easily elevate herself through her abilities as well as her style. It won't have to be marriage that gets her up to the very top tier.
