Very sad news to hear Prof Mike Morgan passed away yesterday. A fine clinician, a wise leader and a lovely human. He leaves a wonderful legacy in Leicester and Respiratory Medicine, but he will be greatly missed.

Oh yeah, it’s also advanced understanding of multiple conditions caused by similar molecular mechanisms - from COPD to dementias! Quite good returns from its first 3 decades…. 🎉 👏🏽 🙌🏽 🪩

The NHS may indeed be inefficient — but it is not “bloated”. Rather, it is inefficient because it is run too lean.

A proud day as a supervisor! Charlie Hitchman coming through his PhD viva w flying colours. A suitably probing discussion that sounds like it was great fun, & a worthy seal on a ‘tour de force’ (examiners’ assessment) PhD. Co-supe’d by Pietro Roversi, now in Milan, and Andrew Quigley at Harwell.
