The town of North Hollow went off the grid last night. No signal. No storm. No answers. Just static and smiles that don’t reach their eyes.

MINI-ADVENTURE MODULE PITCH: “STATIC OVER NORTH HOLLOW”

Genre: Conspiracy thriller / small-town mystery
Playtime: 3–4 hours, ideal for one-shots
Tone: Paranoia, isolation, slow-burn dread

PREMISE
The small town of North Hollow went off the grid last night. Phones are dead. Radios emit only static. The locals say it’s a storm knocking out the lines. But there was no storm.

Players arrive in town, maybe as investigators, journalists, or just travelers looking for gas, and quickly realize everyone’s too calm about the blackout. No one wants to talk about the sawmill fire, the missing people, or the faint humming that never stops.

STRUCTURE
Act 1: Arrival
Strangers roll into North Hollow and encounter a smiling population that insists everything’s fine. Clues hint that the entire town shares rehearsed answers.

Act 2: The Interference
Strange sounds bleed through the static, distorted voices, overlapping heartbeats, fragments of the players’ own speech. The deeper they dig, the more people “forget” ever meeting them.

Act 3: Revelation
The signal isn’t just interference. It’s control. A corporate experiment meant to suppress violent tendencies… that spread far beyond the test zone. Those who resist the influence vanish, pulled into the broadcast itself.

TWISTS & HOOKS
The sawmill is actually the transmission tower’s power relay.
The town’s sheriff remembers everything, but keeps pretending not to.
Someone among the PCs starts hearing the Voice…

I've tried luminotherapy and it works pretty well for me. It tricks your brain into believing that you get your daily dose of sun (to explain it simply)

Promptober Day 8: Spirit

How about a random NPC Spirit table? How about making them quirky and harmless for once, each with their own odd little desires?

After all, they were once mortal too. Why not bring that flavor into your game?

SPIRIT NPC TABLE

These aren’t your usual ghosts. They don’t crave vengeance or peace. They crave something small, strange, and heartbreakingly human.

Roll d10

Someone to remember the flavor of their favorite jam, lost to time.
A mortal to finish the song they never got to complete.
To see a long-forgotten vow fulfilled, no matter how trivial it seems.
They just want to sit by a hearth again, even if it’s only for a minute.
To be told a comforting untruth about how they died.
Someone to speak their name aloud under the open sky.
They crave the feeling of rain on their face, borrowed through a living host.
They don’t care who forgives them, only that someone does.
To deliver one last message to someone who’s also been dead for years.
They want to slip into a mortal's dream just once, to feel alive gain.

How to Use

Each spirit can serve as a quest giver, haunting, and/or companion.
Reward players who fulfill the spirit’s desire with blessings, omens, or gratitude.
Roll for tone: (1–4 bittersweet, 5–7 eerie, 8–10 dangerous).

I used to have my own spice brand and I made one inspired by Skyrim called The Fire Salt. That thing literally goes on everything too and make regular table salt feel like so 1970!

One of the ideas I'm playing around with regarding Legends of Rock is the concept of having an in-game dedicated website showing (among other things) a Top 5 Songs of the Week and give these songs a special feature while it's in the chart (songs are magic spells in LoR).

Ultimately, I want to make the Legends of Rock layout as chaotic as Rockstars. The way I plan on doing this is by making real scrapbook pages and scanning them in hi-resolution.
