Magician's Nephew and The Silver Chair felt the least religious and also least "problematic" of the books (Calormen felt racist to me even as a kid, and it's hard to not see it as Islamophobic now.)

They felt more like fun magic stories, with less ideological overtones than the rest.

Your post made me realize they are making a Magician's Nephew movie. I enjoyed the weirdness of the book, so I can't help but have a little hope they go ham with it and it ends up enjoyable.

LOTR also has a pretty broad world, where it feels easy enough to zoom in on some part and tell a story outside the main stories.

Can't really see that for Narnia. The world doesn't feel that consistent when you compare any books after Dawn Treader, IMO.

very privelaged to post about movies when there is a fr*cking cheeto in the white house. dont have time to watch "move-ies" when we should be "move-ing" fascism out of this country. praise 🙏🙏🙏

At least Mega Man still has at least 10 times as many good games as Sonic 😈

An iji remaster or port would be awesome. Can't think of many other indie games like it.

It's such a raw, rough gem, and feels like it could have only really come out then, in 2008, when there was basically no money or clout in making indie games.

This pissed me off in Khazan, with its skill tree being extremely gated.

Just replayed the old indie pc game Iji, which is kinda like a platformer deus ex, and it has hard level caps per area, but it feels reasonable given the short length of the game and what it's trying to do.

Though it is not really a "Jordon Peele" movie at all. If you expect it to be, you will be very unhappy!

It is no masterpiece, but it has stuff to say. I disagree with reviews saying it has "no insight" at all. It's not deep, but it's not nothing, particularly when it comes to toxic masculinity.

(Mild spoiler)
The movie has a massive tone shift towards the end, which is pretty funny, and tries to explain stuff it didn't really need to explain. Let the viewers figure it out for themselves!!

But overall I found it very enjoyable. Might get rocks thrown at me, but I enjoyed it more than "Us."

I thought the movie "Him" was pretty decent. I went in knowing it had low reviews, so I didn't expect a masterpiece.
I liked a lot of the cinematic decisions, the lighting, the shots, the editing, etc.
It is pretty over the top with its themes, almost shouting them at you, but I honestly enjoy that.

Watching the movie "Him," muttering "sportsball" under my breath for the entire runtime.

I hold the conviction that beer for dogs would be a great idea.

I get what you mean, but gotta say, I have a (currently useless) IT degree and I still love Playstation/ console gaming.

When it comes to entertainment, consoles cut out so many hassles that exist on PC. I like not troubleshooting to start a game! (Though maybe I still count as afraid of PCs, lol)

Different decks have different strengths and weaknesses, and do better against other decks. And assessing the strength of different card combinations isn't a known science. Even legacy formats with an unchanging card pool aren't "solved"
bigjimbo.bsky.social
The best way to play yugioh is probably fan made a client like YGO omega that gives access to every card for free.

Then deckbuilding becomes more purely strategic than gated based on your budget.

potentially. depends on the game! it's not one size fits all.

I haven't played silksong yet, but Hollow Knight was pretty stingy with numerical upgrades because of how tight combat balance was supposed to be. it's not an rpg where you end up with 5 times the hp and damage you started with.
