After Henson died, NPR re-ran an interview. They had to lead with the announcement: "We're sorry for the poor audio quality. The engineer made an understandable mistake and miked the frog."
THAT is how good Jim Henson was.
Also: he was gremlin enough to say nothing when it happened.

What's so amazing about Jim Henson as a puppeteer is that he could literally be explaining that Kermit is made out of felt and ping pong balls and yet Kermit still feels alive the whole time he's doing it

But I am still surprised when my fur-con email gets various city tourism boards trying to get a sales-lead on us and to convince us to move to their area.
In my head, these cons are all still a college room party that has gotten severely out of hand.

I struggle at times to find a way to explain to people the gremlin energy of Fur Squared.

One of the common discussions I used to have with @frangwhuf.bsky.social at a "unicorn" silicon valley company was how surprisingly often classical philosophy and various other arts and humanities directly applied to the problem domains we were working with.
The AI bubble is a case study on why tech guys need to also learn the humanities and arts.

It's fun watching the young-uns having fun.

The little gremlin of a con is now nearly 3k attending and has worked itself into a convention center and historic hotel.
I spent most of my time staffing, but I got two concerts and one panel in too.
It's a really good con.
