Given that the only Miyazaki character I'm even vaguely familiar with is Totoro, it was pretty funny to read this excerpt from his conversation with Moebius in the back of the book.
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind #1 (Viz Comics). Blind buy today for $2. Not disappointed in the slightest. I don't really know Miyazaki's work, just a general sense of him culturally, but so far this is excellent. #miyazaki #moebius #comicsky
Between Severance and Reddit = LinkedIn, unfortunately
Poison Elves Vol. 1 (Sirius Entertainment). I didn't read the first two issues of "I, Lusiphur" in this book because they were almost entirely text, and Drew Hayes was not a very good writer of prose. But I enjoyed the other issues a good deal, when I could understand what was going on. #poisonelves
If you can start training her to recognize AI generated dogshit that would be *chef's kiss*
Finished up The Usagi Yojimbo Saga, Book 2 (Dark Horse). Unsurprisingly excellent. Grasscutter was sick, as was the entire arc of the conspiracy of eight that weaved throughout most of the stories. This painted cover from the gallery is incredible. Now to find Book 3. #usagiyojimbo #comicsky
From the opening of Usagi Yojimbo #28 (Dark Horse), it's a cameo from Akiko, Spuckler, and Mr. Beeba! Akiko's robe is patterned with images of Poog, but no Gax in sight. I always love these fun crossovers. Almost done with Book 2 of the Dark Horse years. #usagiyojimbo #akiko @darkhorse.com #comicsky
Starting my dive back into the Dark Horse years if Usagi Yojimbo with Vol. 2 of the Saga. Excited to jump back into something with bulk instead these few issue miniseries I've been reading lately. #darkhorse #usagiyojimbo #comicsky
Silencers #3 and #4, closing out the series (Caliber Comics). I really had a hard time following this as none of the characters were visually (or characteristically) distinct from one another due to the art style. There were some cool sequences, but not enough to save it. #calibercomics #comicsky
Awesome finds in Seoul: Man-Thing #5, Aliens #5 (in black and white!), The Extremist #1, and Sin City Vol. 3 (in Korean!). Pretty motherfucking rad. #comicsky #manthing #aliens #vertigo #darkhorse #seoul #sincity
Received this Concrete book plate in the mail today from @jikorijo.bsky.social whom I met through the excellent @strangebrainparts.bsky.social Discord. An incredibly thoughtful gesture that warms me. Thank you so very much. Collecting comics rules. @paulchadwick.bsky.social #concrete #comicsky
Saint Germaine #8 (Caliber Comics). This was essentially a side story that added a bit of color to Germaine and Lilith's backstory, but not the most engaging. Bummer there are only two one shots left and that's it for this series. The first 4-issue arc was the best. #calibercomics #comicsky
Silencers #2 (Caliber Comics). While still not fun to look at (sorry R. G. Taylor), I do appreciate the unfolding story. #calibercomics #comicsky
Saint Germaine #7 (Caliber Comics). Unfortunately I'm missing #6. Another excellent issue continuing the Kilroy crossover story. But the real highlight is the Kilroy backup story in this issue. The art is superb. Pencils by Ed Herrera. Inks by Mike Perkins. #calibercomics #comicsky
Finished Aliens Omnibus Vol. 4 with Taste, Mondo Pest, and Mondo Heat (Dark Horse Comics). And I don't just mean I finished the stories; I mean the book itself is FINISHED. It's now in several chunks of pages with at least one ripped page from when the last chunk fell out. @darkhorse.com #comicsky
Apparently this series was originally called Aliens: Berserker.
Aliens: Frenzy, from the Aliens Omnibus Vol. 4 (Dark Horse Comics). Can't go wrong with a Killian Plunkett cover. Action-packed and fun (unlike the bullshit Alien: Earth series). And this is what I get for collecting old TPBs: always a good chance the signatures will start to fall out. #comicsky
Silencers #1 (Caliber Comics). This cover is so fucking 90s - I love it. The interiors are really, really ugly, though, to the point where it's difficult to tell characters apart. It's helpful when they call each other by name, but there's also like 10 characters introduced. #calibercomics #comicsky
Saint Germaine #3, #4, and #5 (Caliber Comics). These covers are god awful, but the story is still fantastic. I love that Kilroy is this like interloper throughout the Caliber universe. While #5 didn't add much to the plot, I always love Kilroy's overdramatic narration. #calibercomics #comicsky
Littlegreyman (Image Comics). A fairly harmless, nonsensical, not very good book. I always enjoy C.S. Morse's art, but his writing never really hits for me. I can still appreciate it for its weirdness, though. #imagecomics #littlegreyman #comicsky
Saint Germaine #2 (Caliber Comics). Really enjoying this series so far. This whole bit with the shadows interacting separate from theirbphysical bodies is really cool. This sequence reminded me of this stupid meme. #calibercomics #comicsky
Journey #2 (Aardvark-Vanaheim). Some mystery building. Now I need to find #3-7! This cover is absolutely gorgeous, too. Incredible colors. #aardvarkvanaheim #comicsky #williammessnerloebs
Saint Germaine #1 (Caliber Comics). Been collecting issues of this for awhile now and decided to jump in. It's excellent! Exactly the type of cliche 90s pretentious shit that I expect from Caliber. This sounds sarcastic and backhanded, but I'm serious and I love it. #calibercomics #comicsky
Journey #1 (Aardvark-Vanaheim). Only really knew William Messner-Loebs from The Maxx. Have been meaning to start this since diving into Cerebus. The first issue was fun! #williammessnerloebs #aardarkvanaheim #comicsky
