A unique long-term study by @olofhellgren.bsky.social in which blood samples were collected from the same population of blue tits over a 30-year period, shows that rising spring temperatures have doubled the incidence of avian malaria in southern Sweden.

A single “sexy” gene can help combat one of the most destructive fruit pests. By deleting the gene that lets female moths produce their mating scent, researchers created an “unsexy” moth and showed a way to turn insect attraction into a powerful pest control tool.

Pollinators like bees, bumblebees & butterflies have too few habitats, often of insufficient quality. A new international study, including Lund University, shows these insects can benefit from a much larger habitat than prescribed in the EU:s biodiversity strategy.
