During our March cruise, C-CoMP researchers deployed SVP drifters during diel sampling. The drifters enabled tracking/sampling the same parcel of water in a Lagrangian approach, aiding efforts to capture diel microbial signals from the same water over time!

For proper monitoring of the oceans, we need to know what we have, and what we do not have. But, sometimes, it is very difficult due to taxonomic challenges. Here we review some of the major issues in the ICES and Mediterranean waters for zooplankton uncertainties

Taxonomic uncertainty in North Atlantic and Mediterranean zooplankton limits species-level monitoring accuracy
Abstract. Taxonomic discussions often permeate the broader scientific community slowly, yet they may hold more relevance than typically assumed. In many zo

First deepwater trials of new tech—combining cameras & acoustic sensors—the system offers less disruptive/more detailed way to study zooplankton up to 1000m. It will be tested against traditional methods & upgraded for adaptive sampling.
